Read More I requested a quote from Medalist Moving Services for a long-distance move and received an estimate from a representative named Francis. After receiving the quote, Francis called persistently following up. I understand he was trying to secure the business, but the approach was excessive, if I said I’d call at a certain time, he would call multiple times before that time, and I was getting multiple calls throughout the workday as well. During our most recent conversation, I learned Medalist is registered as a broker, not an actual carrier, meaning they do not own trucks or employ the movers who would handle my belongings. I asked basic due diligence questions and said I wanted to look into the carrier they planned to assign before booking. Francis provided the information but became hostile once I said I wanted to explore other companies, since reviews for the carrier he named, First Class Movers Inc., were not good. He complained about my budget and said I was wasting his time, and when I explained I was being careful since this company would be handling everything I own, he said, quote, “how about this, I don’t appreciate you fucking wasting my time.” I ended the call and blocked his number. Since then I have continued receiving repeated calls from unknown/unlisted numbers, which I believe are attempts to reach me after being blocked. One voicemail from a “No Caller ID” number included his voice using the same profanity. I’d encourage anyone considering Medalist to independently verify their broker status and the safety record of whichever carrier they assign before paying any deposit, and to be prepared for this kind of response and persistent contact if you ask reasonable questions.
