Read More I should have listened to the reviews, but we had to move very quickly so we went with this broker anyway. They did not provide a good faith estimate at the time of booking. My husband gave them a detailed list of every piece of furniture and box we planned to bring so they could calculate cubit feet and dead space. The total estimate came to $3,500. Because I had read the negative reviews about customers needing additional space beyond the original quote, my husband even added an extra 400 cubic feet beyond what was estimated just to avoid issues on moving day. When the moving company, East West Movers, arrived they "reassessed" the inventory. For the exact same inventory list, they said it would cost another $2,000. We declined and removed several items from the shipment - patio furniture, a mini fridge, a medium-sized cabinet, and roughly 12 boxes. Despite removing items that were part of the original estimate, the price still increased by $1,000. We were also told delivery would definitely be Friday. The moving company told us Saturday would be the earliest possible delivery. My husband works in logistics, so we are very familiar with dead space, accurate measurements, standardized box sizes for stacking, and realistic delivery timelines. What we are not familiar with is the kind of "slimy salesman" approach where you say whatever it takes to get someone into a contract and deal with the fallout later. I would never recommend this company. I should have trust my gut and the other reviews. Nothing about our inventory changed - only our understanding of this company's integrity.
