There were some good experiences with Safeway, but on the whole, it was not worth moving with them due to the thousands of dollars of damage the movers did to my brand new home, the customer service that constantly misled and ignored me, and the inability to make us whole again. I have now spent dozens of hours filling our forms, waiting on hold, and being ignored by these folks, and I am left with thousands of dollars of damage to my brand new home that they are refusing to compensate me for even though their driver has admitted fault to the damage they caused. We moved in late 2023. On the whole, the experience was fine. The company seems to pay the truckers and subcontract out local movers when they load your truck and when they unload your truck. The movers during the loading and unloading were professional, nice, and efficient. The truck drivers were generally easy to work with, although we had minor difficulty with language barriers. The issue happened when moving our belongings in to our new house. The movers improperly moved heavy items in our house, placing a sharp and pointed corner onto a hardwood floor, rotating and dragging the furniture, and gouging an otherwise well-kept floor. That's on top of damaging our dresser, our desk, and our closet door among other minor damages that aren't worth mentioning.Safeway uses a horrendous third party system to work through their claims. The website places extremely specific guidelines to deter you from actually submitting a claim, and gathering all the exact documents, pictures, quotes, and filling out forms takes hours and hours. If you do have the misfortune of working through this process, be sure to save every single bit of text, every document, and every picture locally. We submitted our claim, and we were told there were errors, and we had to resubmit every single item. We thankfully had saved every bit of information, resubmitted the identical claim, and that time there were no issues. The system seems designed to wear you out so that you can never be properly reimbursed. After an extended period of time, the third party system offered a paltry $140 to reimburse the damage that has cost us thousands to properly repair. The third party system clearly states that their recommendation is not binding, Safeway can ultimately choose how to reimburse the customer, but Safeway tries to hide behind this third party system. From that period forward, I have tried to contact the company on and off for months. I am continually placed on hold, told that "someone will certainly get back to you soon within 24-48 hours," and no one ever reaches out. I've been told to send out information about my claim to their customer service email (cs@safewaymovinginc.com), and that someone will certainly respond to my query in a short time. This entire process has been infuriating, and I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone work with this organization.
