Read More We got off to a good start with the account manager being super friendly, responsive to emails and telling me everything I wanted to hear. After money exchanged hands, the story changed completely. We paid for a full service move from NYC to Chicago. About a week before the move, I got a list of prohibited items including alcohol, liquids of any kind, computers, medicines, cleaning products among other things. We had a huge collection of very expensive alcohol that we had to leave behind. Not to mention a large amount of nice facial creams and beauty products. Something else that also wasn’t mentioned until after we paid the deposit? The fact that it could be up to 3 weeks after our requested delivery date before we got our items. We are currently in temporary housing with a baby and still have no idea when our things will be available. I’ve reached out multiple times and all I get are generic responses saying things like “we understand this can be frustrating” and “thank you for your patience during this process”. Although I think it’s ridiculous that I may have to wait an additional 3 weeks to get my stuff, I have made my peace with that. What I find unacceptable is that they can’t even give me an estimated date of arrival. We are supposed to move out of our temporary housing next week. How can we move to a new apartment with a baby if we don’t have beds, a crib or anything else? Do yourself a favor and just use PODS.

Read More Didn’t get calls when I was told I would and had to frantically reach out to get through to people or get a call back.For my move day I was told by Karen that 4 movers would show up. Instead I got 3 and it was the last day of our lease. The first thing out of the supervisors mouth was “this is too big can we come back tomorrow?”Now I’m dealing with someone with the worst attitude I’ve ever encountered in a customer-facing role who straight up said she won’t even say she’s sorry our situation is so tough.Stay away from this place like the plague. You don’t need this awful back office support for a move. Go find one that’s run by veterans or something. You’ll get way better service.PS: I love the clearly automated response with an unexpanded variable “{Reviewer first name}” it really reinforces how much I feel like they care about my experience.

I have already paid thousands more than my quote because of added items (somewhat my fault) and items they claimed they didn't know about even though I sent pics and confirmed on the phone. I was told I would just " pick my delivery date" but on the day of the move I was told my items were going 3 hours in the opposite direction to be off loaded in a warehouse. What?! I just found out they give a 21 day delivery window. I have moved out of states many times and have always had the semi just pick up and drive to the new house within a few days.Husband can't work without his tools. So we have no belongings no ability to work for up to 3 weeks.Avoid IVL! They are liars and will cheat you! Horrible company.

They have very few trucks of their own. They do not deliver on time. They ultimately charge you far more than their estimate when you are so far down the road, you have no alternative. They are skilled rip-off artists and you have zero recourse. If I can persuade even one potential customer not to use them, I will have performed a useful service.

Read More [Please Read] TLDR, this has been an awful company to work with. If you’re going to spend thousands of dollars, be sure you’re partnering with an ethical company that has customer service/satifications as one of their main values. I picked IVL because they were on a Forbes list. They probably paid to be on said list, but I went for it anyway. I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did. Picture this: All of your personal belongings are in the possession of a team people/company actually don’t care. The proess has been chaotic, unorganized, and the customer service has been terrible. I could not recommend this company less. My whole experience [to date] below: 1 - I've had multiple [4] "Account Managers" since originally planning my move beginning in November 2023. All of them have been extremely difficult to contact when getting items added/removed from my invoice. When my invoices were updated, most times there were errors and I had to go back and correct the rep I was working with. 2 - When the movers arrived, they instantly broke my bed frame when taking it apart. They told me they "found the bed like that", although the bed frame was 3 years old and had never been moved. They left a fragment of wood from the bed on the ground further confirming that they broke my bed after lying to me. Bear in mind that not only did they leave fragments of wood from the disassembly, they also left the place full rolls of tape, paper, and random garbage that they brought in. 3 - Writing in to my Account Manager making her aware of this issue was impossible. Only after calling into their general support line did I get an email response. The person I chatted with (who was very nonchalant about the whole situation) has now introduced me to a member of their claims department, who is now my new point of contact. He’s been the only good representative I’ve had. I guess 4th times a charm. Although I’ve finally lucked out with a more responsive and competent member of their team, this doesn’t help the fact that they broke my bed frame and have offered no solution. Their solution: “Did you get 3rd-party insurance? Did you read the Bill of Lading? All we can offer you is $0.60 per/pound. Imagine my $1,000 bed frame is 100lbs. Lucky for me, IVL is going to compensate me $60 for damage they caused before the move even started. 4 - The day before my move I get a call from the truck driver saying he’ll be at my storage unit tomorrow. He says “well, it doesn’t look like this place is 18-wheeler accessible”, although I’ve confirmed multiple times with my storage facility. Their recommendation is that I find another storage unit because they need to be in Maryland tomorrow. I guess f*** my stuff, right? Whoever you are, I hope you save yourself a headache (and some money) and don’t choose IVL. Like every purchase, when you spend a lot of money on something, you expect a good product. From the booking of the move, to the move itself, and the customer in between, this is a bad product. Buyer beware.

Read More After researching out-of-state moving companies for weeks, we found International Van Lines on a few websites and rated it well. I was not looking for a cheap moving quote but a moving company I could trust to finish the job in time. I was pressed for time because I started a new job and had a very specific request. The movers arrived on time, packed my three-bedroom house, and moved my stuff from Brooklyn, NY, to Dallas in a few days. The delivery of my goods was smooth. They set up all of our furniture room by room and assembled whatever they needed to. I proceeded to go through everything and confirmed that nothing was missing or damaged. I would also like to thank the staff at IVL; Michelle, Daisja, and Jason were key players in getting everything put together, and they were very pleasant to work with. I have never worked with a moving company before, but I would recommend IVL. They made things easier for our family and relieved some of our stress and worries about moving to a new state. They get a good review from me, my future business, and a recommendation.
