Read More I checked the reviews on this company before I contacted them and thought everything was going to be OK. I was quoted a low price. I then called and asked about how to arrange the service. That is when the person on the phone said that was just a ball park figure I would need to tell him what it was that we were moving. I then told him what I had and told him around 40 to 45 boxes along with one bedroom and a living room and kitchen. The price went up 500 dollars. I, thinking that these people are professionals said fine and made an appointment for them to pick up the furniture. I asked them when they would need to pick it up for a guaranteed delivery on Saturday. They assured me since the move was less than 500 miles they wouldn’t need any time they would pick it up on Friday and have it there Saturday morning. Wow was I naïve. They showed up late with truck problems, they then said that we had more boxes than I had told them at which point I asked how much more and the answer was it was based on weight. Now at this point I was starting a new job on Monday no time to look for someone else. I asked about the weight and was given a CAT scale weight of the truck, I asked about the fuel and was told it was ¼ full and amazingly when it was weighed after picking up the furniture it was again only ¼ full. The price went up 1000 dollars. Again I have to have the furniture delivered the next day. They never showed up giving me the excuse that the truck was broken down. I have no place to stay and only clothes for that Saturday. They call and say they will definitely deliver by 8am Sunday then it was 12:00 Sunday then I called them at 6:45 PM and they said they were about an hour away but couldn’t tell me the name of the town they were in. I told them I couldn’t take delivery that late since they would not be finished unloading until at least 11:00 or later that night and I had a 6:00 breakfast with my new boss on Monday. I already had to buy clothes to go to work and another night in a hotel, which they never offered to pay for. They showed up late the next morning and refused to unload the truck until I paid the additional 1000 dollars. These people are extortionist, they refused to bill it and I had to take time off of a new job to put this on a credit card before they would do anything and the apathy that was exhibited every time I called makes me feel like they must have to pay people to give them the reviews I saw on line. If these people are professionals and can’t give a close estimate and can’t own up to their poor performance then I know I will never use another moving company again.

Read More Do NOT use this company on long distance moving. This company is extremely deceitful, they’ll have Sammy Perret's come to your house to give you an estimate, and fill your ears with magical fairytales. First they tell you we guarantee we will get your stuff to you in 3 business, 10 at the most if unforeseen things like the weather. They will claim they will not lose your things because everything is ticketed and at pick-up and delivery someone will count with you all you stuff, (only the pick up did). They also claim not sell your stuff to third parties, Summit Van Lines will start and finish with you. However all their promises turned out to be false. Our stuff arrived 14 business later, and when we would call them to get status of arrival and they said they would call back at the end of the day with an answer and never did. They also had the perfect story each as to why are things had not arrived, the truck magically broke down the 10th business day, We had to cancel our vacation because they claim it would arrive that weekend because we were priority due to THEIR ERRORS. The customer service person was extremely rude at all times and would raise your voice at you when you try to voice your dissatisfaction and remind her she never called back as promised. They lost our dinning table, and had to search through the other peoples stuff to locate it, which they thankfully did. However the other things lost like our bed frame and many other things they claim they would have to call us back on. The things that did arrive were damaged, all the boxes were crushed. These people are no respect for your personal belongings. They broke many furniture pieces, a lot and then had stains and scratches that were not there, they broke our safe, bent the wheel on our bikes, and our brand new TV. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE for long distance moving. They might be good for local, however for long distance they sell your stuff to 3rd parties which lose or damage half of your stuff.

For long distance moves they work with other companies so when they drop off your stuff you’re not even dealing with summit employees. The other company demanded I pay an extra fee, even though my bill said I had no outstanding balance. Make sure you get the full coverage insurance because these people will break your stuff and not properly pack it.

We used this company for our move from FL to SD and everything started smoothly. The end results was a complete nightmare! The movers arrived to SD with 2 lost boxes, and ... Read More We used this company for our move from FL to SD and everything started smoothly. The end results was a complete nightmare! The movers arrived to SD with 2 lost boxes, and the items that did arrive many of them got here broken. I contacted the company and spoke to the manager, and advised her of the situation. I needed to know if they can contact the movers and check if my 2 lost boxes were still inside the truck. She basically said she felt horrible and would see what she can do but she couldn't promise anything. The only thing she can do is send me a link for a TPA (Third party assistant)that reviews your claim with all the losses, and they will reimburse me $.60 @ lb for my loss items. I had a sound bar, speakers, vase, and other heavy items and a few of things that would never be replaced considering they were my children's baby items from over 30 years ago. Well, I received the TPA response this week. They offered me a total of $75 for these items plus all my plates, glasses, and other items that arrive completely broken. It was a slap in the face! At that point, I called Summit Van lines and again spoke to the manager. I told her after paying almost $5k to them for my move they turn around and offer me $75 for the items I can no longer recover and broken.

Despite being covered in a moving blanket, the television arrived with scuff marks that appeared to result from someone kicking it. When I switched it on, the screen was totally damaged. They gave me the runaround when I attempt to call them to fix this problem and have ceased returning my calls.

Read More I hired Summit Van Lines two months ago for an intrastate move. At first the company put on a good show, having an estimator come out to view my items and telling me the praises of their workers and that they are all employees. NOT TRUE. The day of my move two of the three workers were employees the other showed up 45 minutes late, threw on a Summit Van Line T-Shirt and started to work after stating several times, he is a contractor and works for himself. That contractor consistently demonstrated lack of manners and professionalism with gestures like charging his phone in my home without asking, insistently asking personal questions, like what do you do for a living or have we met before. But more than that, several boxes were missing and they did not properly close up boxes that were in my storage or wrap my furniture before moving. Worse their truck is old and did not close properly allowing my items to be exposed to rain water for 3 hours. Their response, to the damaged items, the owner will take care of it personally. After they received my money, I could not get a response call back from the owner or Customer services. It has been two months and their online claim system is a joke. Still no response or remedy for my payment. I asked the truck to follow me so that I could ensure my things made it without issue. The driver conveniently detoured perhaps that is where the theft occurred. Please learn from me stick to a more nationally known, employee owned and bonded company.
